Pixel Terms

Last Updated: February 19, 2006
  • Buying pixels on AustinMash! grants you the right to display an image, a short description, and a link to your web site (your ad) on the AustinMash! home page. The size of the image you may display is the number of pixels you purchase. You will not actually "own" any part of the AustinMash! web site.
  • Skyline Purchases: In addition to the homepage, the Skyline ads will appear on all publicly accessible AustinMash! web site pages, so they will be seen much more often than the other homepage ads.
  • I may additionally display your ad image, description, or link on other pages within the AustinMash! web site or on related promotional materials
  • Grid Purchases: Although you have specified a location for your ad, I reserve the right to make slight modifications to it's location in the future, in the interest of optimizing remaining available space. Such moves will not be greater than 50 pixels in any direction.
  • All pixels are available on a first-come, first served basis, based on when you make payment.
  • You cannot change your ad once it has been posted. Your last chance to change your mind about the description or link is when you email your image to me, after you have paid for your pixels.
  • You may not resell or otherwise transfer your pixels. I will not honor requests to do so.
  • The AustinMash! web site will be hosted and made available online by a reputable hosting company until at least Dec 31, 2010, barring radical changes to the internet (like, I expressly deny responsibility for keeping the internet running !)
  • No inappropriate images, descriptions, or links will be accepted. I decide what is appropriate for this site. Examples of inappropriateness include obscene, pornographic, offensive, and hate-related content.
  • If your ad is accepted and you later change the content of the linked site to show inappropriate material, your ad will be removed.
  • You may request that your ad be removed from AustinMash! at any time.
  • Once an ad is removed, it may not be reinstated, and there will be no refund. The pixels may become available to the public at some future time, at my sole discretion. (This is to prevent transfer of the pixels to any particular person)
  • Your image must be provided in GIF, JPEG, or PNG format. If the image contains multiple frames (is animated), only the first frame will be used. Transparent areas will be rendered in white.
  • Your ad link must begin with either http:// or https:// and point to a web page. The target web page must not automatically redirect the visitor to another web site (another page within the site is ok, provided the content is related and not inappropriate - this exception is intended to allow "intro" pages)
  • Skyline Purchasers: Once I receive payment, I will email you an image of the correct shape and size for your ad. You must return a copy of this image with your desired design, which must fit entirely within the black border, to be incorporated into the Skyline.
  • Grid Purchasers: You must email me a rectangular image of the exact same size and proportions as the parcel you have purchased.
  • All images submitted that do not conform to these terms will be returned. You are solely responsible for submitting a suitable image. No description or link will appear for your ad until your image is approved and loaded onto the site.
  • You must have the authority to provide the image and link for the website you submit. Do not use logos that do not belong to you.
  • Intermittent site outages may occur, due to site maintenance, technical issues, or extreme traffic loads. No refunds will be given for occasional site outages
